Job purpose

Within the designated region, the Business Development Manager works to improve Affygility Solutions’ market position and achieve financial growth.

Working with Executive Management, and Sales and Marketing personnel, this person collaboratively assists in defining long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships in the region, identifies business opportunities, and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.

To achieve this purpose, the Business Development Manager needs to identify potential new customers, develop relationships with them, present to them, and continue to grow the lead and prospect pipeline. This requires a thorough knowledge of the life science market, the solutions/services that Affygility Solutions can provide, and of the company’s key competitors.


New business development

Prospects for potential new clients (“prospect”) and turn this into increased business.

Within their geographical region, meets with prospects by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.

Identify prospects, and the decision makers within the organization.

Research and build relationships with new clients.

Plan approaches and pitches. Work with Affygility sales personnel to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.

Participates in pricing the solution/service.

Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.

Present an image that mirrors that of the client.

Client Retention

Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.

Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.

Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

Business Development Planning

Attends regional industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends. This may require attendance at events that are outside of the normal workday.

Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.

Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Management and Research

Ensure that timely prospecting data is accurately entered and managed within Affygility Solutions’ customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Participates in sales forecasting meetings and planning to establish sales targets.

Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.

Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.

Participates in periodic pipeline review meetings via Skype.


This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a scientific-related field and 3-5 years of life science industry related experience.


Strong written and verbal English communication. Additional languages a plus.

Ability to prepare and conduct presentation to prospective clients.

Comfortable with using computerized databases (Salesforce) and communication tools (email, Slack, Skype, WebEx).

Self-starter and the ability to work independently.

Creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems.

The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.

In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and its current events.

Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations.

Attention to detail.

Excellent time management and organization.

Background check by independent firm required.

Working conditions

This is primarily a virtual office position, with a base office to be located in one of the Free Zones in Dubai.

However, when visiting client facilities, the Business Development Manager may be required to wear client-mandated personal protective equipment such as disposable coveralls, hair nets, shoe covers, and safety glasses.


Work hours will vary, but weekly Skype conference calls from 18:00 to 19:30 can be expected.

Physical requirements

This is primarily a sedentary office job with the majority of the work day spent working at a computer.

When attending seminars and conferences, extended hours can be spent walking and standing.

Must be able to periodically travel via airplane on flights typically 6 hours in duration or more.
