1,2-Distearoyl-sn-3-Phosphacholine (DSPC) (also known as 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3- phosphocholine) is a phosphatidylcholine in which phosphatidyl acyl groups are specified as stearoyl (octadecanoyl). It derives from an octadecanoic acid. 1,2-Distearoyl-snglycero- 3-phosphocholine (DSPC) is used to produce liposomes that are capable of being loaded with a molecule of choice. This compound is also used as an inactive ingredient in drugs, for example in tobramycin inhalation powder, which is indicated for the management of cystic fibrosis patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
