1,3-Benzenedimethanamine (also known as m-phenylene bis(methylamine, mxylylenediamine, m-xylene-alpha,alpha'-diamine, or MXDA) is an organic chemical primarily used as a reactive diamine curing agent for epoxy resins, enabling the formation of hightemperature, chemically resistant networks in coatings, adhesives, and encapsulants. It is also used as a chain extender and crosslinker in polyurethane and polyurea formulations improving hardness and durability of industrial coatings and sealants. As an industrial intermediate, it participates in the synthesis of high-performance polymers such as polyamides and polyimides, as well as in specialty resins for demanding applications. Additionally, 1,3-benzenedimethanamine is used as a building block in epoxy resin systems and thermoset resins for electronic materials and related adhesive formulations, with broad applicability across industrial chemicals and material sectors (1, 3, 4).
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value and the Permitted Daily Exposure (PDE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
