Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to 4-Aminophenol hydrochloride (CAS RN 51-78-5). 4-Aminophenol, also known as p-aminophenol, is an amphoteric molecule and a reducing agent. It is a natural product found in Camellia oleifera. Aminophenols are intermediates in the synthesis of dyes and can thus be found in numerous cosmetics products, particularly in hair dyes. 4-Aminophenol is considered a minor nephrotoxic metabolite of phenacetin and acetaminophen in humans. 4-Aminophenol is used as an intermediate for sulfur dyes, rubber antioxidant, and developing photographs in Japan. This substance is also used as an intermediate for pharmaceutical products, a wood stain, imparting a rose-like color to timber, and as a dyeing agent for furs and feathers.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
