Amphetamine sulfate is indicated for the treatment of narcolepsy, attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity (ADHD), and exogenous obesity. Amphetamines are non-catecholamine, sympathomimetic amines with CNS stimulant activity. Amphetamine sulfate contains d- and l-amphetamine salts in a 3 to 1 ratio and has multiple mechanisms of action, including blocking uptake of adrenergic and dopamine, stimulation of release of monoamines, and inhibiting monoamine oxidase. The mechanism of therapeutic action in ADHD is not known but is thought to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), and to obtain the following information:
