It has been used as an antihypertensive agent in Japan since 1986. It has been studied for other indications, such as tremor control for patients with Parkinson disease and it is currently in clinical trials for its use in the control of blood pressure and heart rate. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, angina, tachyarrhythmia, and essential tremor.
