Articaine hydrochloride is used for relief of pain in minor operations, usually in combination with the vasoconstrictor epinephrine (adrenaline). Articaine hydrochloride is the administered form of articaine. Articaine hydrochloride is an amide local anesthetic and a dental local anesthetic. It has been used as a 1% or 2% solution with or without adrenaline for infiltration and regional anesthesia. A 4% solution of articaine hydrochloride with adrenaline is used similarly in dentistry. A hyperbaric solution of articaine hydrochloride with glucose has been used for spinal block.
