Avutometinib is a small molecule kinase inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK)1 and rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma (RAF) used alongside a focal adhesion kinase (FAK) inhibitor. It is used in combination with defactinib for the treatment of adult patients with Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS)-mutated recurrent low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC) who have received prior systemic therapy. This indication is approved in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under accelerated approval based on tumor response rate and duration of response (DoR). Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in a confirmatory trial.
