Bepotastine besylate is an antihistamine indicated for treatment of allergic irritation of the eye. Bepotastine besylate is an active, direct H1-receptor antagonist that inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. The inhibition of histamine release suppresses the migration of eosinophils into inflamed tissues to prevent tissue damage and worsening of allergic inflammation of the conjunctiva.
