Bisbentiamine, also known as benzoylthiamine disulfide, is an O-benzoyl thiamine disulfide or vitamin B1 disulfide derivative. Lipid-soluble thiamine precursors such as bisbentiamine have a much higher bioavailability than thiamine itself and therefore are more suitable for therapeutic purposes. Bisbentiamine is also used as a dietary supplement. Bisbentiamine is indicated for prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, beriberi, and when it is presumed that vitamin B1 deficiency of metabolic disorder is involved in neuralgia muscle pain, joint pain, peripheral neurites, peripheral nerve palsy, myocardial metabolic disorder, gastrointestinal dysfunction such as constipation and postoperative intestinal paralysis.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
