Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta blocker. Bisoprolol is given as a Fumarate in the management of hypertension and angina pectoris. It is also used as an adjunct to standard therapy in patients with stable chronic heart failure. Bisoprolol fumarate is a cardioselective inhibitor of beta (1)-adrenoceptors, has no significant intrinsic sympathomimetic activity or membrane stabilizing activity in its therapeutic dosage. It also exhibits beta (2)-adrenoceptors inhibition and has a slowing effect on heart rate.
