Calcium dobesilate, a calcium salt of dobesilic acid, is a venotonic drug which is widely prescribed in more than 60 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East for three main indications. These are chronic venous disease, diabetic retinopathy, and the symptoms of hemorrhoidal attack. It is also indicated for consolidating therapy with lase photocoagulation and glomerulosclerosis (Kimmelstiel-Wilson syndrome).
