Calcium fructoborate is a boron-based nutritional supplement with a chemical structure resembling natural boron forms present in edible plants, such as bis-mannitol, bis-sorbitol, bis-fructose, and bis-sucrose borate complexes. Calcium fructoborate, derived from fresh fruits and vegetables, serves as a soluble boron source, encompassing three biologically active borate forms, the diester, monoester, and boric acid. These borate forms are active both intracellularly, as free boric acid, and extracellularly, as fructose-borate diester and monoester. Calcium fructoborate exhibits superior cellular and molecular properties compared to boric acid/borate, showcasing a complex "protective" effect against inflammatory responses.
