Cefixime is an antibiotic used to treat infections in the urinary tract, ear, tonsils, lung, and to treat gonorrhea. Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic that acts by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. Because it is resistant to beta-lactamase, it may work on organisms resistant to penicillin’s and other cephalosporin’s.
