Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to cefoperazone sodium (CAS RN 62893-20-3). Cefoperazone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for use in Gramnegative and Gram-positive bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, especially those due to Pseudomonas. Cefoperazone sodium are also used in veterinary medicine for intramammary treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating cattle. Cefoperazone binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, causing inhibition of the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
