Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to cefotetan disodium (CAS rn 74356-00-6). Cefotetan is indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including bone, joint, skin and skin layer infections, abdominal infection, prevention of post-operative infection, lower respiratory tract, pelvic inflammatory disease and urinary tract infections. Cefotetan disodium is a semisynthetic, beta-lactamase resistant, cephalosporin antibiotic that exerts its effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Its high degree of stability in the presence of beta-lactamases is attributed to its methoxy group in the 7-alpha position. It is active against a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
