Cefpirome sulfate is the sulfate form of cefpirome, an injectable cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Cefpirome is a semisynthetic broad spectrum fourth generation cephalosporin. Cefpirome binds to the penicillin binding protein of the inner cell wall. This binding interferes with the cell wall formation, weakening the cell wall and causing it to break open.
