Chlorpheniramine (also called chlorphenamine), as chlorpheniramine maleate, is a firstgeneration antihistamine of the alkylamine group that is widely used in allergic reactions, hay fever, rhinitis, urticaria, and asthma. Used alone as an antihistaminic agent, chlorpheniramine maleate is indicated for the symptomatic control of all allergic conditions responsive to antihistamines, including hay fever, vasomotor rhinitis, urticaria, angioneurotic edema, food allergy, drug and serum reactions, and insect bites. It is also indicated for the symptomatic relief of itch associated with chickenpox. Chlorpheniramine is also a common ingredient used in compound preparations for symptomatic treatment of coughs and the common cold.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
