Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CAS RN 69-09-0). Chlorpromazine is a central nervous system agent indicated to treat many conditions including bipolar disorder, apprehension, hiccoughs, nausea and vomiting, tetanus, hemoglobin in urine, and schizophrenia. Chlorpromazine hydrochloride is a dimethylamine derivative of phenothiazine of which the exact mechanism of action is unknown. It is a psychotropic agent that produces sedative and antiemetic activities in the CNS, as well on other organ systems. It has weak anticholinergic and strong antiadrenergic activity and possesses slight ganglionic, antihistaminic, and antiserotonin activity. Chlorpromazine is a weak presynaptic inhibitor of dopamine reuptake, which may account for the antidepressive effects.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
