Choline alfoscerate, also known as alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine (alpha-GPC, AGPC) is a nootropic choline-containing phospholipid. It is a hydrolysis product of lecithin, which is a ubiquitous natural constituent of biological organisms and human food. In Europe, choline alfoscerate is a prescription medication for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is available in two forms; one is taken by mouth, and the other is given as an injection. In the United States, choline alfoscerate is only available as a dietary supplement, mostly in products promoted to improve memory. Other uses for choline alfoscerate include treatment of various kinds of dementia, stroke, and transient ischemic attack (TIA). Choline alfoscerate is also used for improving memory, thinking skills, and learning.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
