Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to cidofovir hydrate (CAS RN 149394-66-1), cidofovir dihydrate (CAS RN 149394-66-1), cidofovir trihydrate (CAS RN Not Available), and cidofovir sodium (CAS RN 127749-27-3). Cidofovir is a cytosine nucleoside analog indicated for cytomegaloviral retinitis - HIV infection. It has been marketed under the brand name Vistide®. Cidofovir diphosphate inhibits herpes virus polymerases at concentrations that are 8- to 600-fold lower than those needed to inhibit the human cellular polymerases alpha, beta, and gamma. Reduction in the rate of viral DNA synthesis is due to incorporation of cidofovir into the growing viral DNA chain.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
