Cilostazol is a phosphodiesterase type-3 (PDE III) inhibitor with an antiplatelet agent and vasodilator used for the symptomatic relief of intermittent claudication. Inhibiting phosphodiesterase activity and suppressing cAMP degradation increases cAMP within platelets and blood vessels, inhibiting platelet aggregation and improving vasodilation. Cilostazol reversibly inhibits platelet aggregation induced by adenosine diphosphate, thromboxane A2, collagen, arachidonic acid, epinephrine, and shear stress.
