Cinnamomum burmanni Extract

Cinnamomum burmanni (of the family Lauraceae), also known as Indonesian cinnamon, Korintje cinnamon, Batavia cassia, Batavia cinnamon, and Padang cassia, is one of the Cinnamomum species native to Indonesia. Cinnamomum burmanni is sometimes labeled simply as cinnamon. However, “cinnamon” is a common name for several Cinnamomum species, and is often used to refer to species other than Cinnamomum burmanni. This can cause confusion in the literature. Cinnamomum burmanni extract is usually made from the bark and leaves of Cinnamomum burmanni in aqueous or ethanolic solvents. Cinnamomum burmanni has gained widespread recognition as a spice worldwide. Cinnamomum burmanni has some medicinal properties where it is used as a tonic and stimulant. Cinnamomum burmanni extract can also be utilized in traditional medicine, for the treatment of back pain, stomach pain, rheumatic pain, and respiratory ailments. It has been used traditionally to help with weight loss, in muscle soreness, in postpartum healthcare, to reduce inflammation, and to manage diabetes. The leaves of Cinnamomum burmanni have been used to alleviate heartburn, fever, diarrhea, hypertension, aphthous stomatitis (canker sores), and various other minor health issues.
