Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to cobaltous sulfate monohydrate (CAS RN 13455-34-0) and cobaltous sulfate heptahydrate (CAS RN 10026-24-1). Cobaltous sulfate, also known as cobalt sulphate, is a micronutrient and component of vitamin B12 found in some multivitamins. It is available in multivitamins as liquid-filled capsules for oral administration. In the industry, cobaltous sulfate is used in chemicals, ceramics, and pigments. The monohydrate and heptahydrate are used in plating, feed supplements, to make catalysts, magnetic recording materials, anodizing agents, and corrosion protection agents. Cobaltous sulfate is also used in the manufacture of vitamin B12 during the biological fermentation of molasses by Pseudomonas denitrificans.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
