Copper naphthenate is a copper (Cu) salt of naphthenic acid. Naphthenic acid is a substance of unknown or variable composition, complex reaction products, or biological materials (UVCB), as it is isolated as a petroleum fraction. It is a mixture of many different isomers of cycloalkyl carboxylic acids with varying physicochemical properties according to the proportions of the individual components in its composition. The full range covers the C6-C30 chain length, whereas the typical range covers the C10-C19 chain length. There are no registered food uses and no indirect food uses for copper naphthenate.
