Dicyclanil is a pyrimidine-derived insect growth regulator which is used in veterinary medicine for the prevention of myiasis or flystrike. Dicyclanil is used for the prevention of blowfly strike on sheep due to Lucilia sericata. The United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the emergency use of dicyclanil for application on or around wounds for the prevention of infestations caused by New World screwworm (NWS) (Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae (myiasis) in sheep, cattle, goats, swine, camelids, and the following captive and captured wildlife species; cervids, American bison, bighorn sheep, and Sonoran pronghorn.
