Dicyclomine, also known as dicycloverine, is a tertiary amine antimuscarinic with effects similar to but weaker than those of atropine. Dicycloverine is used in gastrointestinal (GI) spasm, particularly that associated with irritable bowel syndrome. It can also be used as adjunctive therapy in organic GI conditions to relieve associated smooth muscle spasms such as in colitis, diverticulitis, regional enteritis, gastritis, and peptic ulcer.
