Dobutamine hydrochloride is given to patients with depressed heart function to increase the output of the heart. Dobutamine hydrochloride stimulates beta receptors in the heart. It increases the strength of the heartbeat. Its effects on heart rate and vasoconstriction are less that other similar therapeutics.
