Additionally, this monograph contains the pediatric ADE (pADE). Donepezil is indicated for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Donepezil is a reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Its therapeutic effect in Alzheimer's disease stems mainly from an increase in the concentration of acetylcholine through the reversible inhibition of its hydrolysis by acetylcholinesterase.
