It is an essential component of the deoxyribonucleotide pool required for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis and repair. Doxecitine is currently approved and marketed as a fixed-dose combination therapy with thymidine (also known as doxribtimine, deoxythymidine, and dT). Doxecitine in combination with doxribtimine is indicated for the treatment of thymidine kinase 2 deficiency (TK2d) in adults and pediatric patients with an age of symptom onset on or before 12 years.
