Droxidopa is used to treat dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting sensation and a sudden fall in blood pressure caused by several diseases, including Parkinson’s. Efficacy of treatment beyond 2 weeks has not been demonstrated. The exact mechanism of action is not clear; however, droxidopa is directly metabolized to norepinephrine. Norepinephrine increases blood pressure by inducing peripheral constriction of arteries and veins.
