Enoxaparin is a common low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) used in the prevention and management of various thromboembolic disorders. Enoxaparin is indicated, for example, for prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in abdominal surgery, arthroplasty of the knee, and total replacement of hip, acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction DVT, and prophylaxis for ischemia in unstable angina. It is also indicated for treatment of DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE), excluding PE likely to require thrombolytic therapy or surgery, and for prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in moderate and high-risk surgical patients.
