Ethotoin is used to treat complex partial seizure and grand mal seizure. Ethotoin, an antiepileptic drug of the hydantoin series, is capable of exerting its antiepileptic action without exhibiting general depression of the central nervous system. It's mechanism of action is believed to be similar to that of phenytoin, which stabilizes the normal seizure threshold and inhibits the spread of seizure activity.
