Exenatide is indicated for diabetes mellitus type 2. Exenatide is the first in a new class of incretin mimetics approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Exenatide may be used as monotherapy, or in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, sulfonylureas plus metformin, thiazolinediones with or without metformin, or in combination with insulin.
