Factor IX is indicated to prevent and control bleeding in patients with factor IX deficiency, due to hemophilia. Coagulation factor IX, a single chain glycoprotein with a molecular mass of about 68,000 Dalton, is an important protein in the process of hemostasis and normal blood clotting, as it plays a key role within the coagulation cascade. It is located within the blood plasma as a zymogen, an antecedent to enzymatic function, in its inactivated state. Factor IX is dependent on the presence of vitamin K and is activated to a serine protease by the function of coagulation factor Xia.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
