Fenoterol is an adrenergic beta-2 agonist used as a bronchodilator and tocolytic that has been used for decades. Fenoterol is a beta-2 adrenoceptor agonist. Fenoterol acts on beta-2 receptors in the bronchial muscle causing bronchodilation. It also promotes secretion from serous and mucus cells, enhances mucociliary beating, and increases the movement of water and chloride ions into the bronchial lumen.
