Floxuridine is indicated for the treatment of GI and liver cancer. Floxuridine is an antimetabolite of the pyrimidine analog type. Floxuridine is considered to be cell cycle–specific for the S-phase of cell division. Activity occurs as the result of activation in the tissues, and includes inhibition of DNA and, as a result of action of the fluorouracil metabolite, RNA synthesis.
