Floxacillin, also known as flucloxacillin, is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as pneumonia, scarlet fever, skin, and ear infections, is used in veterinary applications, and is marketed primarily as a generic drug. Floxacillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic, in the penicillin class, used to treat Gram positive bacteria including infections cause by Staphylococci and Streptococci that acts by affecting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall.
