Fluocinolone acetonide, a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid, is indicated for topical therapy of corticosteroid-responsive acute and chronic skin eruptions where an antiinflammatory, anti-allergenic, and antipruritic activity in the topical management is required. It is also used for the treatment of chronic eczematous external otitis, chronic noninfectious. uveitis affecting the posterior segment of the eye, and diabetic macular edema in patients without a clinically significant increase in intraocular pressure after previous treatment with corticosteroids.
