Fluorometholone is a member of the class of glucocorticoids that is delta1-progesterone substituted at positions 11-beta and 17- by hydroxy groups, at position 6-alpha by a methyl group and at position 9- by a fluoro group. It has anti-inflammatory and antiallergic properties. Fluorometholone or fluorometholone acetate are indicated for the treatment of allergic and other steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the eye.
