Fluphenazine decanoate is a decanoate ester of fluphenazine, trifluoromethyl phenothiazine derivative, intended for the management of schizophrenia (2, 3, 4, 5). Its basic effects are considered to be no different than fluphenazine, except for its duration of action. The mechanism of action for fluphenazine decanoate is unknown. Fluphenazine decanoate, like fluphenazine, has activity at all levels of the central nervous system, as well as on multiple organ systems, but has longer duration of action that fluphenazine.
