Hesperidin is a plant chemical, classified as a bioflavonoid, found primarily in citrus fruits. It is consumed as part of the diet, added to vitamins, used in veterinary medicine, may improve blood pressure, and may improve poor circulation, hemorrhoids and leg ulcers. Hesperidin represents 90% of the flavonoids present in the orange. In a clinical trial, hesperidin contributed to the vascular protective effects of orange juice. The exact mechanism is not clear, but may involve vascular dilation and effects on the cyclooxygenase pathway. In addition, hesperidin has strong antioxidant properties and may affect platelet-endothelial adhesion.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), and to obtain the following information:
