Homatropine is a synthetic amine alkaloid with antimuscarinic properties. Homatropine methylbromide has also been used in the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) spasm, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and as an adjunct in peptic ulcer diseases. It may also be used to prevent nausea, vomiting, and motion sickness. Homatropine hydrobromide has been administered as an ophthalmic solution as a cycloplegic to temporarily paralyze accommodation and to induce mydriasis (the dilation of the pupil).
