Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone is a photoinitiator used in a broad range of commercial and biological applications. These chemicals may be released from the plastic packaging into the product wrapped in the plastic. Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone may be toxic to blood cells, specifically human monocytes, by triggering programmed cell death or apoptosis. Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone has also been shown to be an endocrine disrupting compound.
