Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to alternate CAS RN 74252-25-8, indomethacin sodium (CAS RN 74252-25-8), and meglumine indomethacin (CAS RN 36798-16-0). Indomethacin is a synthetic nonsteroidal indole derivative with anti-inflammatory activity and chemopreventive properties. Oral indomethacin is indicated for symptomatic management of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) including acute flares of chronic disease, moderate to severe ankylosing spondylitis, moderate to severe osteoarthritis, acute painful shoulder (bursitis and/or tendinitis) and acute gouty arthritis. Intravenous (IV) indomethacin is indicated to induce closure of a hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus in premature infants weighing between 500 and 1750 g when, after 48 hours, usual medical management (such as fluid restriction, diuretics, digitalis, and respiratory support, among others) is ineffective.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
