Iron sucrose is used to treat iron deficiency anemia with chronic kidney impairment. Iron sucrose dissociates into iron and sucrose. Iron forms a complex with transferrin and is transported to target cells such as erythroid precursor cells, where it is incorporated into hemoglobin during the red blood cell maturation process.
