Lisinopril is a long-acting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibition prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II which is a potent vasoconstrictor. Decreased angiotensin II leads to decreased vasopressor activity and decreased aldosterone secretion.
