Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to LSD-25 bitartrate (CAS RN 113-41-7), LSD-25 tartrate (CAS RN 17676-08-3), Lysergide maleate (CAS RN 24656-41-5) and D-1-Acetyl LSD (CAS RN 3270-02-8). Lysergide (also known as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)) is a semi-synthetic hallucinogen and is one of the most potent drugs known. Recreational use became popular between the 1960s to 1980s but is now less common. It was used for research to study the chemical origins of mental illness. Recreational use started in the 1960s and is associated with the ‘psychedelic period’. Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was investigated for a variety of psychiatric indications including treatment of schizophrenia, as a means of creating a "model psychosis", as a direct antidepressant and as an adjunct to psychotherapy. Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is listed in Schedule I of the United Nations 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances. Although once used in psychotherapy, LSD has no current medical use.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
