Lysergide

Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to LSD-25 bitartrate (CAS RN 113-41-7), LSD-25 tartrate (CAS RN 17676-08-3), and Lysergide maleate (CAS RN 24656-41-5. Lysergide (also known as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)) is a semi-synthetic hallucinogen and is one of the most potent drugs known. Recreational use became popular between the 1960s to 1980s but is now less common. It was used for research to study the chemical origins of mental illness. Recreational use started in the 1960s and is associated with the ‘psychedelic period’. Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was investigated for a variety of psychiatric indications including treatment of schizophrenia, as a means of creating a "model psychosis", as a direct antidepressant and as an adjunct to psychotherapy. Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is listed in Schedule I of the United Nations 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances. Although once used in psychotherapy, LSD has no current medical use.

Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.

  • The numerical OEL and control band assignment needed to determine the level of required engineering controls and personal protective equipment
  • A listing of all cited references utilized in the derivation of the OEL and ADE
  • An expert review and discussion with respect to the critical endpoints of concern, the rationale for the choice of endpoints, and dose that is to be used in the derivation of the ADE (PDE), as required by the EMA's Guideline on setting health-based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities
