Magnesium with many different counter ions, including pidolate, is indicated for the treatment of magnesium deficiency, prevention of magnesium deficiency, constipation and indigestion. Magnesium pidolate is indicated for the treatment of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is the second most abundant positively charged electrolyte in the body and is an essential body electrolyte, which is a cofactor in numerous enzyme systems. When taken orally, magnesium promotes bowel evacuation by retention of fluid which distends the colon and increases movement of contents. Parenteral magnesium decreases acetylcholine in motor nerve terminals and acts on the heart by slowing the formation of heartbeats and prolonging conduction time, as well as stabilizing excitable membranes. Magnesium is also necessary for the movement of other electrolytes (calcium, sodium and potassium) in and out of cells.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
