Mosapride is a racemate comprising equimolar amounts of (R)-mosapride and (S)- mosapride. It is a gastroprokinetic agent which acts on 5-hydroxytryptamine type 4 (5-HT4) receptors. It is usually used to treat heartburn, nausea, and vomiting caused by chronic gastritis and adjunctive treatment to the pretreatment with orally gastrointestinal (GI) lavage solution for barium enema X-ray examination.
